The Good News is the story of Jesus.
The story of Jesus started when God created people. God’s plan, from the very beginning, was to love and live with us. He created humankind in His own image, with the ability to reflect His goodness back into the world.
But people often choose to live for themselves. Rather than reflecting God’s goodness we make decisions that are self-focused and self-destructive.
So God made a plan to reveal Himself to creation and to reconcile creation back to Himself. The fulfillment of that plan was Jesus. The invisible God became a man.
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. Colossians 1:1 (NLT)
Jesus came to this world with a mission to save broken, hurting, and dying people.
The son of man came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10 (NASV)
Jesus’ life and teaching shows us a new way to live—to love all people and to live sacrificially for others. The ultimate expression of this way of living was His sacrificial death on a cross, forgiving those who killed Him and forgiving the brokenness of humanity.
The good news is that He rose from the dead. He has broken the power of death for all people and for all time. The good news is that Jesus is Lord, and He has set up a new Kingdom; a new way to live, different from anything we could do on our own.
The good news is that we can return to the original purpose for humanity—to reflect the image of God back into His good creation. The good news is that Jesus will return to restore all things to Himself and we will live with Him forever.
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. John 3:16 (MSG)
We believe the story of Jesus changes us. When we hear the story, believe the story, and enter into it through repentance and baptism, we will experience real transformation. This transformation changes everything about how we see the world. It changes the way we think, feel, and act.
Finally, when we share the good news, it changes everyone around us. That’s why we like to share our story and how our lives have been transformed by the story of Jesus.
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes. Romans 1:16 (NLT)
